New York!

We're here!!!

We left super early this morning on a 7:00 am direct flight to New York!

What a better way for Marc to start his first day of his new job than to take an all expense paid trip to New York with me!  I'm so proud of Marc, his promotion & all that he has accomplished in the past 10 years with 7-Eleven.  And I cannot wait to enjoy a super fun week with him!

We were both super excited to be leaving rainy WA for (hopefully) sunny New York!!!

Our flight was rather uneventful. We slept, Marc watched a movie & I worked/played online during our almost 5-hour flight to NY.  Except that it wasn't 5 hours.  Apparently Air Force One was landing at JFK & all planes were in a holding pattern until the President landed.  And we were *this close* to having to take a detour into Newark to get more has.  But thankfully our pilot worked some magic (probably by telling the towers we were running on empty!  Ha!) and we were able to go directly to JFK.  6 hours on the plenty was long enough!

And look what Scentsy sent to the airport to pick us up!  We rode to the Waldorf in style!

Our room is small & quaint.  Exactly what I pictured a New York hotel room to look like.  It is super clean & perfect for our 5-day stay in the Big Apple!

We were starving when we finally got to our room, so we quickly dropped our bags & headed to eat.  Our driver recommended that we eat at the Shake Shack, so that is where we walked for dinner.  It was only a mile from our hotel, but we had to take quite the detour because of this...

Yep.  That would be President Obama's car!  We just couldn't get rid of him today.  Ha!  He is in NY for some fundraising & apparently is staying at the Waldorf too.  We were literally stuck at the front of the hotel until he got parked & where he needed to go.  This is probably as close as I will ever get to the President of the United States!

Dinner was delicious!  We were so hungry that we didn't even get a picture of what we ate.  But take my word for it.  The burger, fries & chocolate milkshake were amazing & I highly recommend you eat here if you come to NYC to visit.  Yum!

After dinner we walked around for a little bit, but man, was it cold!  Tonight they are expecting an almost record low for this time of year, so we quickly made our way back to the hotel.  But not before we took this picture for the girls.

As we made our way back to the Waldorf, we realized that President Obama was still at the hotel.  There was security (police, cars, barricades, etc) everywhere!

Imagine the above picture x 1000!  We couldn't believe how many dump trucks were parked around the hotel.  They certainly did a great job blocking the hotel & keeping the President safe!

And look at what we passed as we rounded the corner!  President Obama's car!  Sans Mr. President.

After another detour, we finally made it back to the hotel, where we currently are.  I'm online & Marc is fast asleep.  It was quite the busy day, and we cannot wait to see what is in store for us throughout the rest of the week!

And a quick shout out to our baby girl.  Kennedy Rae, as she participates in her end of the year school concert tonight.  We are super sad to be missing it, but Grandma Connie is doing a great job of sending us pictures & videos.

We love you, Kennedy Rae, and will be thinking of you on your special night!!!

  1. I can never get in to the Shake Shack. Usually there is a long line out the door. Hopefully one day.
