What a GREAT Mother's Day!
I was spoiled by Marc & the girls and was treated like a queen on my special day. They not only gave me super sweet cards, a nice new blender (since I've been on a smoothie kick as of late) but hubby also got me Carrie Underwood tickets! I am one lucky girl!
Don't you just love the card that Marc got me?! If you know my husband, this is SO him! He picked out the perfect card!
After church, we decided to head to the zoo. Oh my word, the zoo was a zoo! Ha! I think everyone in WA decided to go to the zoo that day. But we still had a great time & the girls loved seeing all of the animals!
And I just LOVED the flowers that the girls picked for me.
After a couple of hours at the zoo, we decided to head out. It was getting pretty hot & the girls legs were getting tired. Luckily, my parent's got us an annual zoo pass so we can come back as many times as we want this Summer!
From there, we headed to the mall to get the girls some new shoes. The trip was a success & they got some super cute sandals & tennis shoes.
Next up, it was time for some yummy dinner. We were all starving and couldn't wait to go to my favorite Mexican restaurant!
It was a delicious meal, but I will admit that by now, we were all getting a tad cranky & tired. We had a great day together but I think my 5:00 pm everyone was ready to go home!
And that we did! Once home, the girls played outside for a bit while Marc watered my flowers. And then it started. The meltdown & crying from a certain somebody, which resulted in her having to go inside for a timeout, and not being allowed to play outside anymore. Fun times!
I told Marc that even though it was Mother's Day, this meltdown confirmed that it really is just another day & life as we know it always rears its pretty little head. Ha!
Ashby & I played outside for a bit longer before heading in to take a bath.
And now comes the part where my special Mother's Day came abruptly to an end.
At the zoo, some sunscreen accidentally got sprayed into my eyes. I did the best that I could to wash it out, however, being at the zoo, I couldn't take my contacts out & take as good as care of my eyes as I could have if I had been home. So throughout the day my eyes burned a bit, but it wasn't too terrible, so I just dealt with it & enjoyed our day.
Well, last night when I came inside I immediately took out my contacts. And that is where the pain got intense. My eyes stung so bad I couldn't even keep them open. And when I did, they would water profusely, promptly making me close them again because the pain got so bad. I rinsed them out the best I could, but this is how I spent the rest of the night.
Yep, the only thing that gave me reprieve was to close my eyes & put a cold washcloth on them. So for a couple of hours, that is what I did. And soon after, I called it a night & went to bed.
Luckily, they feel much better this morning, though, I do not dare stick my contacts back in. And I have an eye appointment at 1:00 pm today to make sure everything is OK & that my contacts have been cleaned well enough for them to go back in. Because I DO NOT want to ever experience that pain & stinging again!
Overall, though, it was a wonderful Mother's Day! Thank you to my amazing husband and adorable girls for making my day so special! I am so blessed to be their Mama!

I LOVE their outfits! (Gymboree?) and I also love that card your hubby picked out!!!! :-) Happy Belated Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to stop by and say hi, I found your blog on Kelly's Korner. I live in Bellingham, WA. Looks like you had a great mother's day. All except for the sunblock. Hope your eyes are ok. I had something similar happen to my contacts before, it was like the contacts form a barrier against the irritant getting in my eyes, but once I took them out. WOW. Anyway I look forward to reading more of your blog.
ReplyDeleteOh No!!! Sorry about your eyes-not the way to end a Mother's Day. Your girls are so adorable and I'm impressed that they made it all the way until 5 pm until they had a meltdown!
