Last week's challenge in The 52-Week Organized Home Challenge was to organize bills.
We have a file drawer for all of our bills. In it is hanging file folders for each month of the year. As bills come in throughout the month & are paid, the bill goes into their respective file folder. Once the bills are a year old they are shredded. This helps keep the file drawer up to date & tidy.
Well, as you can see I have not been good about disposing the old bills. Our file drawer is so full that papers & bills won't even fit into their respective file folders anymore. What a mess! Time to organize & purge!
About an hour later, here is what our file drawer looks like now. Much better! Now, only the appropriate bills are in the file folders & the extra empty folders were put into another drawer to make room in the bill drawer.
And here is our 'to be shredded' box. Looks like I have a day of shredding ahead of me! Ha!
This Week's Challenge: Create A Personal Tax Organizer System & Organize Receipts

This is awesome...I definitely need to do this! We had been organizing them by type of bill, but I like the idea of one file for each month instead!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Shawna. We also sort by type of bill and it's a pain. This is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Thanks for sharing!
