I was able to go to both of the girls' swim lessons this weekend. Marc usually takes the girls, but since he was out of town I had the pleasure of taking them. I am amazed at how much both of them have progressed!!!
Kennedy is now in Level 2 swim lessons. She is definitely the youngest & the beginner of the group, but I think that is really good as it will definitely push her to continue to improve. She is swimming under water & learning how to do the backstroke & freestyle. Unfortunately I was not able to get any pictures of her swimming as we have to sit in the bleachers, and there is no way my little iPhone would capture a picture that far away. But it is amazing to see her actually swim in the water! I bet by the time we go to Cancun in December she will be a little fish in the pool & will be swimming all alone! She loves the water & has so much fun in it!
To say that I am shocked at Ashby's improvement in the water is an understatement! Remember this post where she cried almost the entire lesson? Well, it really had not gotten much better than that while I was taking her. We tried private lessons at first, but she would just scream for me. So I eventually called it quits & made Marc take her. They ended up doing a Daddy & Tot class, which Marc said she did great at. But he was with her the entire time. Well, last month Marc said he was D-O-N-E with those classes. She was by far the oldest in the class (they start at 18 months) and he said that she was getting bored. Unfortunately, since she can't touch the bottom of the pool yet she cannot be in Level 1 classes, and the pre-school classes are full. So we decided to resume private lessons until a spot opens up, but Marc has been taking her.
This is what I witnessed yesterday! Do you see that smile on her face?! She was actually having fun with teacher Laurel! Unbelievable!
And she willingly blew bubbles in the water too! Can you believe it?! What a long way she has come since those first lessons in the Fall! Now, I do have to say that she started to cry for me about 20 minutes into the lesson so it wasn't all peaches & cream. But like Laurel said, I am her security blanket so if I am anywhere near her, she wants me. Ha! Don't I know! With Marc, she could care less. While she has definitely improved with me around, Marc will continue to take her to lessons when he is in town.
Kennedy Rae & Ashby Grace--Mama is so proud of the both of you! You are doing so well with swim lessons & I am amazed at how far you have come! You are both little fishies in the water! Keep up the great work!!!
Love,
Mama

Yay! What awesome improvements! What pool do you take them to? I would love to sign Hunter up for this summer!
