For the next 4 or 5 days I'm going to be doing some Day In The Life posts.
Not because I think anyone who reads this blog cares what I do on a daily basis. But it's a record for me. Of what my life is like right now. With the girls at ages 2 & 4. I know in years to come I will not remember these crazy, fun & chaotic days. So these posts will be a great reminder to me of the fun we had!
6:30 am: our neighbor boy, Jared, comes to the house for an hour until it is time to catch the bus. His mom is a nurse & works an early shift, dad is deployed & older siblings catch the bus earlier, so he comes to hang out with me & the girls until it is time to go to school. The girls love having him here every morning, especially Kennedy. She loves to play Wii with Jared & it is quite comical to watch a 4 year-old beat a 10-year old at almost every Wii game. Poor Jared doesn't think so.

9:00 am: time to take Kennedy to preschool. Today she is Star of the Day & chooses to bring a plush Angry Bird toy. We talk about what clues she is going to give her class to try & guess her special toy inside the box, although, I'm afraid not many kids are even going to know what an Angry Bird is. I try to convince her to bring another toy, but she insists this is the toy she wants to bring.
10:00 am: Ashby & I go to Mommy & Tot gymnastics while Kennedy is at school. She loves gymnastics, however, heavily relies on me being there during class. Like, won't go anywhere without holding my hand & 'mommy stay by me' is said about a million times during class. I love that she is such a mama's girl but I want her to feel comfortable doing the class on her own, because come January when she turns 3, I'd love to have her go to a Mommy & Tot class, minus the Mommy part! :)
11:45 am: Ashby & I pick up big sister, head home, and have lunch. Kennedy tells me that all of the kids knew what an Angry Bird was & have played the game before with their daddies. Except one of the teachers. Teacher Tracey had no idea what an Angry Bird was nor what the game was about.
1:00-3:00 pm: rest time for the girls. Luckily, Ashby decides to fall asleep & not yell for me the entire time and/or kick at the door like she sometimes does. Kennedy plays quietly in her room while I get Scentsy work done and close out last minute orders since it is the last day of the month. It looks like I've had my best month yet in terms of sales. Yay!
3:00 pm: snack time & then outside to play. Although the temperature this week is only in the 40's, there is not supposed to be any rain so I've been trying to get the girls outside to play as much as I can. A warm jacket & hat, and the girls are good to go! Today, they wanted to go to the park near our house.
4:30 pm: the girls decide that they are freezing (and so am I!) so we head inside to warm up. They wanted to be wrapped like burritos on the couch. Then they realized how tight 'burritos' were, so they decided to just have the blankets wrapped around them. I guess Mommy wrapped them a little too tight! Ha! I let them watch an episode of Little Einsteins (Ashby's choice) so that I can get dinner started.
5:30 pm: Dinner time. I make Creamy Potato Soup with Roasted Garlic from here. It was a Weight Watchers recipe, and while it tasted good, we decide the extra calories from this recipe were well worth it!
During dinner, as we are listening to Christmas music, Kennedy says 'so there are 4 main things about Christmas--Christmas trees, angels, ornaments, & cookies, right?' We quickly remind Kennedy about the real meaning of Christmas--the birth of Jesus-and tell her that is what Christmas is really about. And while all of the other things she mentioned are associated with Christmas, that is not the most important reason that we celebrate Christmas. It is at that moment I give myself a BIG Mommy Fail. And realize that I need to a better job at teaching my children about Christmas & the real meaning behind it.
6:15 pm: bath time. Lately the girls have insisted that Daddy give them both a bath by himself. Fine by me! Ha! After baths, I help with pajamas & teeth brushing. And then I read books with the girls. Actually, I should say that Kennedy & I read books to Ashby. Yep! My baby girl can read! I am so proud of her & find myself amazed every time she reads a page out loud to me. When did my baby girl get so big?! Tonight we read Goldilicious together.
7:00 pm: Kennedy's bed time. Since she wakes up at 7:00 am on the dot every.single.morning & does not take a nap, she is more than ready for bed at this time.
After big sister is in bed, Marc & I have some quality one on one time with Ashby. Tonight we played Memory with her, read books & did puzzles. Ashby loves this alone time with us & so do we!
8:00 pm: Ashby's bed time. Marc & I was some TV together. He chooses a college basketball game. It's no wonder I fall asleep for a little bit. Boring!
9:30 pm: Scentsy work done.
11:00 pm: Bed time for me! 6:00 am will be here before I know it!

I love these types of posts. It is so interesting for me to see how others spend the day. With two little girls of my own, it gives me a glimpse of what's to come at our house!
