Every year around Halloween our neighbors BOO each other. In past years, I've been the one to go & BOO a couple of neighbors after we've been BOOed. The girls were young & just didn't 'get' the whole idea of BOOing someone. But not this year! Last week we were BOOed & I was so excited to take the girls out last night to BOO a couple of our neighbor friends.
After the girls left the pumpkin on the porches, I had them get a head start running away before I rang the doorbell. House #1 went off without a hitch. We left the pumpkin, the girls started to run, I rang the doorbell & then ran & caught up with the girls. House #2, however, didn't quite go as planned. All of the lights were off in the house so I told the girls we were going to knock this time just in case they were asleep (highly doubtful since it was only 7 pm but you never know). After the girls put the pumpkin down & starting running away, I heard a little knock on the door, on the INSIDE of the door. I look up & who do I see?! The adorable little 4-year old boy that lives there. Ha! Busted!
As we were walking home, I asked the girls if they had fun. Ashby enthusiastically shouted YES! But in true Kennedy fashion, she said she didn't like the 'boo game' & that she didn't like that she had to leave the pumpkins. Crabby Kennedy, as I called her, was upset that she didn't get to keep the candy for herself. So on the way home we had a little lesson on the importance of giving. She still wasn't liking what I had to say, but Marc insists they had a good talk before bed about how it is nice to share with others & how it isn't all about getting from others, but it is important to give too.
Such a fun activity to do with the girls! And I hope our neighbors enjoy their pumpkin of goodies!
