An Unwanted First

The girls have both been battling colds this past week.  A cold that turned into a nasty cough.  Luckily, their spirits have been good & they haven't been acting sick.

Until yesterday.

Ashby woke up yesterday morning crying that both of her ears hurt.  Like hysterically crying.  Nothing I did would console her.  She wouldn't eat, wouldn't snuggle with me (which she normally loves), & could not get comfortable.  Baby girl has never, in her almost 3 years of life, had an ear infection (neither has Kennedy for that matter) but I suspected she had one (or two).  So while Kennedy was at school, we headed to the pediatrician's office.

She was such a trooper even though she didn't feel well.  She didn't cry once.  Not even when she got a flu shot!  My brave girl!  Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with a double ear infection.   A full blown one in her left ear, and the start of one in her right ear.  We were given a prescription for an antibiotic to help clear up her ears and make her feel better.

Still in a fairly good mood, we headed to Target to fill the prescription.  While we were waiting for it to be filled, the Tylenol must have worn off because she became super upset & started to cry hysterically. Again, nothing I did would console her.  I finally had to bribe her with a 'treat' to get her to calm down.  It worked...for a bit.

After her prescription was filled, we quickly left to pick up big sister, and head home for lunch & to get her first dose of Amoxicillin in her.  I was praying the little pink medicine acted FAST because my little girl was miserable.

The afternoon was rough, but by bath time Ashby had perked up & you could tell she was starting to feel better.  And when I asked if her ears still hurt she said 'No'.  Yay!  I think we are on the road to recovery!

Praying this was her first, and LAST, ear infection!
