It's A...

I Am Thrilled To Announce The Arrival Of:

Greyson Robert Brown

July 26, 2011

3 lbs 14 oz

Yesterday, Rachael had called me & was in great spirits.  She said the magnesium drip was being turned off & she couldn't be happier.  She said the doctor said they didn't think she was experiencing preeclampsia, rather an underlying kidney issue that she had prior to pregnancy.  She said they were going to keep her on BP meds and monitor her in the hospital until she delivered.

And not an hour or so later, my mom called & had terrible news.  Her labs had come back & her liver enzymes were dangerously high.  They were going to pump her with IV fluids & do a redraw at 1:00 pm.  If her levels were still high, they would need to deliver immediately.  Unfortunately her levels at 1:00 pm were even worse, so she had to have an emergency c-section.

Rachael & Greyson came through the surgery wonderfully!  Greyson had apgar scores of  4, 6 & 8.  The doctors were shocked with how big he was for how early he arrived.  He is in the NICU & appears to be doing well, all things considered.  They are trying to wean him from the CPAP & start feeds.  Rachael is such a fighter too!  I guess her BP sky rocketed again after delivery, and she had to go back on the magnesium drip.  Last I talked to Rachael, she said she was doing good, but was sore & very thirsty.

I am so proud of my sister.  She has gone through so much!  It took two miscarriages to finally get & stay pregnant, and then all of this!  What a rock start she is!

She & Greyson are definitely not out of the woods yet.  I pray that God continues to heal my sister and that her blood pressure & liver enzymes return to normal.  And I pray that little Greyson continues to be a fighter & keeps growing, and growing & growing some more!  He will be in the NICU for awhile but I know that he (and my sister) are going to be just fine.

Happy Birthday, Greyson Robert!!!

We Love You!

  4. I've kept up-to-date via FB, but am playing blog catch up and just wanted to say again congratulations and that Rachael and Greyson are in my prayers. What a strong little man he is! It sounds like they are both doing so well, considering the circumstances. I know you can't wait to see them and give them big hugs and snuggles! Hope you're able to soon.
