Before we left, I got some pictures of the girls in their adorable matching outfits that Papa & Grammy got them for Easter. Aren't they cute??!! And of course I wanted one with my school buddy too. She was so excited to leave & take me to her school!
Sparkleberry Preschool is all about play based learning, which I love. Kennedy gets to have fun playing while she is at school, but at the same time she is learning how to share, take turns, follow directions & be courteous to her teachers & school friends. She also is learning responsibility. For example, today (and every school day) the teachers have them clean up at play time & snack time. They made special snacks today for the moms - pasta salad, lemonade & cookies (yum!). After snack time, Kennedy had to clean up our area & take our bowls, silverware & cups to the trash. I love that they are teaching Kennedy how to be responsible for her area & belongings. Such an important concept & never to early to learn, in my opinion.
We did so many fun things at school today. We painted pictures & created artwork on the warming tray, built a 'super duper tall' Lego tower, went down the zip line, played in the Castle room, worked in the office on the computer and made 'important phone calls to daddy', zoomed our Hot Wheel cars around the track, practiced walking on the balance beam (Kennedy even got mommy up on it!), & played dress up. Lots of fun activities in just 2 1/2 hours!
She also created some special Mother's Day projects for me. The first was a 'glass slipper' up on the window with what Kennedy said she likes to do with me. And the other one were beautiful flowers that the teachers helped her make through hand/finger painting. What wonderful Mother's Day gifts! I just love them both!
And they also sang a Mother's Day song for all of us. Unfortunately, Kennedy was not very into the song as she had just been crying because they rang the bell for clean up time & she wasn't able to do her most favorite art project with me, the 'record player, twirly, marker' project (Kennedy's exact words). Here is the song that I was able to capture with my iPhone.
Fortunately, the teachers let her stay after school had ended to show me her favorite art project. The teachers called it 'spin art.' Basically, a paper plate sits on top of a record player. The record player is turned on so the paper plate starts spinning. And then Kennedy take markers & draws on the plate as it spins, making lots & lots of circles. She loves this project & almost always brings home one of these 'spin art' projects every time she comes home from school.
I can totally see what the big fuss was all about & why she started crying when she could not do this project! Isn't it beautiful??!! Maybe in an abstract kind of way??!! :)
She was in a much better mood after being able to show the 'spin art' project to me! Phew! Here is my happy camper again, ready to go home after a fun day at school with mommy!
Kennedy--Thank you so much for taking me to school today. I had so much fun going with you, meeting all of your friends & experiencing all of the fun things you get to do when you are at school! Thank you also for my wonderful Mother's Day presents! I love both of them & especially love that they both came from YOU! I'm so happy I was given the opportunity to do this with you & I am already counting down the days until I can go to school with you again next year! I love you, baby girl!
Love,
Mommy

How fun! Her school looks awesome! Lots of creative things for the kids to do. Good choice keeping her there next year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day with your girlie! Looks like there wasn't a dull moment. And I have to agree that the spin art project was worth the fuss. :)
