Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mama's out there. I hope it was a great one and full of love. To those that are still waiting for their mommy-dream to come true, I'm thinking of you and praying that next year you will be holding a little one(s) in your arms.

I feel so blessed to be a mom.  There were times in 2006, shortly after we lost our little baby boy, Jackson, that I thought I would never be a mom.  It was a dark time for me.  To long to have a child, get pregnant, & then have it all taken away from you in the blink of an eye, was devastating.  So to be doubly blessed with Kennedy & Ashby, I thank God every day for these wonderful blessings that I have been given.

Mother's Day 2011 was wonderful!  I was spoiled by Marc & the girls!  And not just on Mother's Day, the whole weekend long.  I am one lucky lady!

On Friday, Marc surprised me by coming home with beautiful flowers!  I was about to have my very first Scentsy party, so he wanted me to have a little something special for my big night.  What a sweetheart!  And even better, he took the girls out for me so that I could get ready for my party in peace & quiet.  Love him!

Saturday afternoon, he surprised me by taking the girls & me to my all time favorite restaurant...Cheesecake Factory.  We had not been there in forever because the closest one is 50 miles away, but that afternoon we decided to take the long drive there so I could have my favorite meal & some yummy cheesecake.

Unfortunately, the afternoon & evening came with some slight hiccups.  About 45 minutes into the drive, Marc informs me that he forgot Kennedy's shoes (we don't put the girls' shoes on during long drives as they like to kick the back of the seats & get them dirty).  I totally thought he was kidding because he is a big jokester & is always trying to fool me.  Unfortunately for me, though, today he was totally serious.  No shoes for Kennedy!  So we had to make a pit stop at the shoe store to buy some new shoes for Kennedy.  But not before we got stuck in horrendous traffic getting off the freeway & around the mall.  There evidently was roadwork being done & the traffic was horrible.  It took us a good 45 minutes just to get off the freeway & parked at the mall.   Ugh.  But we did find Kennedy some cute new shoes.  And of course Ashby wanted some new ones, too, so we bought some for her too!

After shoe shopping, we headed to Cheesecake Factory.  By then, though, it was already 5:30 pm so there was a long wait at the restaurant.  A 50 minute wait!  I really didn't want to wait that long because we were all starving, but since we traveled all that way & it was my Mother's Day special meal, we decided to stick it out & endure the wait.  The girls did great considering how long the wait was & how hungry they were.  And let me tell you, the meal was D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S!!!  Four cheese pasta, my favorite!

By the look of Ashby shoving her face with food (but making sure she smiled for the camera!) & Marc's clean plate, it is safe to say we all enjoyed our meal!  We also got some Dulce De Leche cheesecake, but took it to go since it was already 7:30 pm (the girls bedtime) & Marc and I wanted it all to ourselves! :)

Sunday was another fabulous day!  Marc let me sleep in & the girls made me Mother's Day cards.  There is nothing better than a homemade card!

I just have to brag really quick.  Kennedy made this card all by herself (except for the hearts & the word 'Ashby' that daddy wrote)!  Her writing is getting so much better!  She still has a few problems with certain letters, but in the past few months her writing has really improved.  I am so proud of her!

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful, but fabulous, none the less.  Spending time together running errands, playing at the park, & working on a project together (which I'll post about tomorrow), it was a very relaxing day spent with the people I love the most.  And to cap off the wonderful weekend, Marc & I had some yummy Cold Stone while watching the finale of Amazing Race.  A fantastic end to a fabulous weekend!

I love my life, I love my family & I love being a MOM!
