Marc went to Las Vegas this weekend for a boys weekend, so the girls & I had a fun girls weekend together!
Friday was Grandparent's Day at school. Papa had arranged to come (one of the perks of being retired), but my cousin (my mom's brother's eldest daughter) died suddenly & unexpected a couple of weeks ago & her memorial was in AZ on Thursday. This, unfortunately, put a kink in his plans to come to TX but it was way more important that he be with my mom & the entire family as they celebrated Sue's life.
Since the girls were going to be one of the only kids in their class without a grandparent, I decided to keep them both home & do something special together. We decided to go see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2!
It was such a cute movie! And even though the girls never saw the original movie (I think this was before they really got into movies), they really enjoyed it! Kennedy laughed out loud quite a few times & got really into the movie. Ashby liked it too, but got antsy a good hour into it. Those last 15 minutes dragged on as she asked me repeatedly 'how much longer until this is over?!' Ha!
They had originally said they wanted Mexican for dinner, but when they realized the movie theater was right by The Cheesecake Factory, they quickly changed their mind about where they wanted to go to eat. Given that this is my favorite restaurant, I was a-ok with their change of plans! And yes, even though it was 80+ degrees outside, they had on their jackets while eating dinner. It was freezing in the restaurant!
Saturday morning was spent lounging around the house, laundry & cleaning. Saturday afternoon, though, Kennedy has swim lessons. I didn't get any pictures from her lesson, but I do have some great recent videos of the two of them swimming. Both girls are going to Emler Swim School & they love it! I love it too as I feel like their teachers push them a lot more than they did back in WA. Kennedy continues to do well & is perfecting her crawl & backstroke. And Ashby has made great strides with her swimming! I think it helps living in a sunny, warm place where we frequent the pool often. Dare I say that she actually LIKES swimming now?!
After swim lessons, we went to church & then headed home for the night. The girls tried to convince me that we needed to go out to dinner again, and while I was very tempted, I was good & we went home to eat. Much to the girls dismay. :)
This morning it was more laundry & cleaning, and then the girls & I watched the Seahawks game. They played awful the first half, however, turned it around the second half & came from behind to win in overtime! It was a great game & the girls enjoyed cheering on their beloved Seahawks!
After the game, we went outside to play for a bit. The weather has been gorgeous & we've loved the cooler weather & being able to play outdoors. And after looking at WA's recent weather, it is safe to say that I am so happy that I am in TX right now & not there. They have had so much rain recently! And temperatures in the 50's. No, thank you!
The girls lucked out again at dinner. A Scentsy sister was in town for a church retreat & called to see if we wanted to meet up for dinner before they headed back out of town. Of course the girls jumped at the opportunity to eat out again! Ha! We had a great visit with Kendra & her family, and the girls loved their dinner (and dessert) at Olive Garden.
The girls & I had a wonderful weekend together! They got along great, there was minimal fighting, and we had some very special moments together. But we sure do miss Daddy & cannot wait for him to come home tomorrow! It's just not the same without him!

What a fun weekend! Jealous of the Cheesecake Factory--I love that place and the closest one to us is over 2 hours away :-(
