Our Wonderful Weekend

We had the BEST weekend!  It wasn't one where we did anything special per se, but it was a weekend spent together, just the four of us, enjoying some much needed family time together.

Saturday I had a Velata event all day, so Marc was on Daddy duty the whole day.  He took Ashby to swim lessons & then treated the girls to a picnic lunch at the park.

Sunday after church, the four of us headed to open swim at the athletic club we belong to.  We had such a fun time!  Even Ashby, who is still quite timid in the water, seemed to have fun.  She even went looking for fishies under water a few times.  Kennedy, on the other hand, is a little fish!  She LOVES the water & could spend all day in the pool.  And she is getting so good at swimming!  She can actually float on her back & do the front crawl quite well.  I love that she loves swimming & gets excited to go to swim lessons every week.  I hope that Ashby learns to love it one day as much as her big sister does.

Marc & I had promised the girls we could go out to dinner on Sunday.  The girls really wanted to go to Red Robin, but Marc & I weren't feeling it.  So we sweetened the deal & said that if we could go to Mexican for dinner, we would take the girls to Cold Stone for dessert.  Well, they didn't take long to forget about Red Robin & were all excited about Mexican...and of course ice cream for dessert!

We went to an early dinner, so when we got home we all headed out front to play.  The girls had fun on their bikes, playing with chalk & kicking the soccer ball around.  Though I do have to say it was a bit chilly.  It's quite sad that it is the end of May & temperatures are only in the low 60's.  Summer cannot come soon enough!

Another fun treat we got in the mail was our bag tags & travel guide for Punta Cana!  It's hard to believe that in less than 3 weeks Marc & I will be enjoying our all expense paid trip courtesy of Scentsy!  We cannot wait!

Monday, Marc & I got to go shopping!  I was so excited to spend my money!!! We got some fun things, but unfortunately, did not get all of our shopping done.  It is amazing how fast 8 hours goes when a) you don't have children with you and b) you have money to spend but can't always find what you are looking for.  We still had a wonderful day together, though, & it was a so nice to spend some alone time with my man!

Throughout the weekend we also got some MUCH needed organizing done in our closet, and in the girls' rooms.  I put all of the girls' winter clothes away & organized their spring/summer clothes.  And we also donated a ton of clothes to Good Will.  Since December, Marc has lost 36 pounds (thanks to a healthy diet, P90X & Insanity) so almost his entire wardrobe does not fit him anymore.  And I could benefit from getting rid of some old clothes...I think it's time to toss my 1999 sorority dance sweatshirt.  Ha!

And there you have it. Our long weekend in a nutshell!

Besides my event on Saturday, it was so nice to just focus on my family for the weekend.  No Scentsy/Velata, no emails, no blogging & no computer work. It felt great to be fully & completely there for Marc & the girls and to forget about everything else. They are my world & I feel bad that at times other not so important stuff get in the way of my time with them.  I really want to focus on being more engaged & present when we are all together, and this past weekend was a great start!

Family--today's little moment's becomes tomorrow's precious memories.

  1. It always feels so good to take a giant load of stuff to Goodwill and declutter the house!! I really need to go through my closet soon and do that too. I have so many things I've been holding on to that technically fit and I could wear, but since I never do I should probably get rid of them haha :-)
