Getting Crafty

Kennedy has her Valentine's Day party in both her preschool classes on Monday & Tuesday.  Instead of doing the normal boxed cards from Target, I decided to get a little crafty and make them.  For those that know me, it is a well known fact that I am NOT crafty.  Nobody has ever mistaken me for Martha Stewart!  Ha1

But when I saw these cute cards on Pinterest, I thought they looked fairly easy to create & decided to give them a try.

I was right!  The cards were super easy to make & I think they turned out super cute too!  And best of all, Kennedy loves them & is so excited to hand them out to her classmates this week.

Baby girl is not in school yet but still wanted to get in on the action.  And in true Ashby fashion (there is a reason we like to call her Destructo!), she has already made one glow so she is now the proud owner of one of Kennedy's Valentine's Day cards.

While the project was super easy to do, there were a few many things that I learned while making these cards with Kennedy:

* Kennedy's name is super long

* Kennedy does not know how to write small, so part of her name went off of the heart a good number of times

* Mommy became irritated because said cards had to be thrown away

* Kennedy does not like to try to make her letters look nice when writing her name.  Some would call her lazy.

* Mommy lost her cool at times so Daddy took over because he is the 'patient one'

* There were a couple of times that I heard Daddy raise his voice too, so maybe he really isn't all that patient!

* There is a reason I do not (and could not) ever home school my girls...God Bless teachers all around the world!

Overall lesson learned--we need to do A LOT of handwriting practice with Kennedy in the upcoming days, weeks & months! :)

  2. So cute!!

And I'm going to side with Kennedy on this one. All through school I remember my little report cards full of S's (satisfactory) with the exception of the one NI (needs improvement) in handwriting every time! haha Kennedy, just tell them that's what computer's are for nowadays :-)

The hubby is the patient one too. I'm curious to see what Kaylee's handwriting will look like, cause I have really nice handwriting and the hubs is not so hot!!
