What a weekend we had! Lots of highs!...and unfortunately some lows too. It's
bound to happen, right?
bound to happen, right?
Let's start off with the HIGHS of the weekend!
* Friday night I hit my numbers for Scentsy & was promoted to DIRECTOR!!! I am so thankful & blessed for my amazing team & customers! I definitely could not have done it without them! What an amazing 5 months this has been. I have said it before, but I will say it again. Joining Scentsy was one of the best things that I have ever made!
* Then on Saturday morning I found out that I had earned (through Scentsy) an all expense paid trip to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! Woohoo! The trip is in June & you better believe that the count down is ON!
* Kennedy also had a soccer game on Saturday. The weather was misty & cold, but we had fun. It is always very amusing watching 4-5 year olds trying to play the game!
* Saturday afternoon we went to a neighbor friend's daughter's birthday party. She was turning 8 & they were sweet enough to invite us over. The girls LOVED playing with the older kids that were there, especially Kennedy. She also informed me right before we went that she now has 3 boyfriends--Tyler (the little boy at school...remember him?!), Peyton--a boy at the park she met, and Donovan--our neighbor friend's son....who is 9!!! Kennedy & the older boys! What am I going to do with her?!

* Sunday morning we went swimming at the athletic club we belong to. The girls had so much fun! I am shocked at how well Kennedy is doing with her swimming. She can push off of the side of the wall & kick almost 1/2 way across the pool (the short way) to me. She is doing so well! And so is Ashby! She let me dunk her at least 5 times today and she didn't cry once! Hallelujah! Maybe, just maybe, she is starting to like the pool & swimming! Fingers crossed.
And this is where we hit the LOWS...
* As I am trying to clean the upstairs Sunday afternoon, the girls start bickering & fighting like you wouldn't believe! The yelling, screaming, hair pulling (courtesy of Ashby), & pushing was driving me batty! I'm amazed at how they can be so loving one minute, and then fight like cats & dogs the next.
* Throughout the entire afternoon & evening the girls just did not listen to me. It was like either a) they had ear plugs in their ears & couldn't hear me or b) I have a voice that only dogs/animals can hear because the girls did not listen to a word I said. 'Pick up your toys'...the toys remained strewn all over the floor. 'Stop fighting'...the bickering continued. 'Please come here'...not a a little girl to be found. Their listening ears definitely were NOT on.
* And the straw that broke the camels back was Kennedy's sassiness, defiance & back talk. This stage of 'NO', screaming/the loud UGHHHH when she doesn't like what we have to say, and not listening is really getting old. Marc & I put her in her room for her naughty behavior, but at this rate she will be in her room all day long! I know that consistency is key, and that is something that I really need to work on. But with Marc traveling most weeks for work, this all lies on me & I hate to be the 'bad' parent that is always yelling & disciplining their child. But obviously what I am doing now is NOT working, so I've got to come up with a better solution.
Question for parents of 4-5 year olds: How do you deal with the sassiness, talking back, defiance & drama? What type of discipline do you enforce to halt the naughty behavior? Any advice/suggestions would be MUCH appreciated!
So as you can see, the weekend started out great but unfortunately ended on a bad note. Both girls went to bed early, without books or cuddle bugging (snuggle time). And Marc & I drowned our frustrations in a big bowl of ice cream & football. I guess I should say that Marc enjoyed the football game while I enjoyed a large bowl of ice cream. :)
Praying for a much BETTER Monday & rest of the week!
