The candles are lit,
but no song will be sung.
No laughter, no glee, of my little one
who would have been three.
If you only knew the plans that would be
made by your dad and me.
the cake to be baked...
the presents wrapped...
and all the funny party hats.
The pictures taken by your dad,
of course,
As loving friends fill the house.
All of this is not meant to be,
since you were taken away from me.
No birthday cake...
No presents wrapped...
No pictures of you in your party hat.
But the candles are lit,
Never to go out.
For they burn forever in my heart.

Today, October 15th, is National Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Day. Today holds a special place in my heart. Today is one of many days that I think about my first born child, Jackson Edward Clough. He was stillborn on December 27, 2005. He was just 1.1 pounds & 11 3/4 inches long. Such a tiny baby. There was no explanation on to why he passed when I was only 27 weeks pregnant. We do not know why God chose to take him away from us so quickly. But we know that we will see him again one day. And until that day, we know that he watching over us from above.
Jackson--not a day goes by that we don't think of you & what could have been. Who would you have been at almost 6 years old? Would you have loved to play sports? What would your favorite subject be in school? Would you be funny like your daddy? Would you look like your mommy? All of these questions, unfortunately, go unanswered. But we like to dream about you, our first born, our son. We miss you & love you more & more every day and cannot wait until we can be with you again.
Love,
Daddy & Mommy
