Showered With Love

This past weekend was Rachael's baby shower, which means I got to go by myself to Portland 2 weekends in a row!  Can you believe it??!!  It was so nice to spend the weekend with my two sisters and mom, and to get to love on Greyson again!  Rachael's baby shower had been planned since the beginning of the Summer, and when Greyson arrived 9 weeks early, R said she really didn't want a shower anymore.  But we convinced her that she deserved to have one & that her family & friends wanted to shower her & Greyson with love...and presents!  Hey, she is a first time mama & has (or should I say had) nothing!  R reluctantly agreed on the condition that the baby shower be 'relaxed & low key'.  We respected her wishes & gave her a special, yet relaxed & low key, baby shower!

Rachael--you are an amazing sister, daughter, wife, friend & mama!  You are beautiful both inside & out and we are so happy that we were able to bring all of your friends & family together to celebrate the safe (yet early) arrival of Greyson!  We hope that you enjoyed your shower as much as we enjoyed planning it!  We love you & cannot wait until little G comes home where he belongs!

And a post is not complete with an update & picture of the little man!  Greyson is doing awesome!  The other day he weighed in at 4 lbs 9 oz!  He was moved out of his isolette & into a crib, which means he is able to keep his body temperature stable all on his own!  And this past weekend he was even introduced to a bottle!  The nurse said he took 22cc (a little less than an ounce) without difficulty.  Way to go, G!  The only issue he continues to have is that he is holding his breath periodically, which makes his heart rate decline for a short period of time.  The doctors & nurses say this is completely normal (even full term babies do this, we just don't know when they are doing it since they are not on monitors) & he should outgrow it in due time.  Overall, he is doing GREAT & keeps taking one step closer to going HOME!  Woohoo!
