Auntie Is In LOVE!!!

I had such a wonderful weekend!  I went down to Portland to visit my sister & brother-in-law...and I was finally able to meet Greyson!  I was supposed to go last weekend but Ashby came down with a fever Friday afternoon (of course), so I didn't want to risk passing any yucky germs to my sister or nephew.  So I had to postpone my trip to this past weekend, and oh my goodness, what a great trip it was!

Greyson is the most adorable baby I have ever seen!  I knew from pictures (and his weight) that he is tiny, but when I finally got to see him in person, I couldn't get over just how tiny he really was!  He looks like a little baby doll!  4 lbs (and let's not forget those 2 oz) of pure cuteness!

And the hair!  Look at all of the adorable, blonde hair he has!  My sister & I keep talking about whether he would be a blondie like my girls, or if it would eventually fall out and darker hair would replace his blonde locks.  Only time will tell!

Greyson is doing fabulous!  On Friday they transferred him down a floor (a GOOD thing!) to the Level 2 NICU.  This means that he isn't as critical & is doing well health & growth wise!  Yay!  He is tolerating R's breast milk & they are slowly increasing how much he gets in his tube.  As of Saturday, he was getting a whopping 5 oz of BM a day!  And they will continue to slowly increase the amount as long as he tolerates it.  His little digestive tract is still maturing, so as long as the little guy poops, & he doesn't have many residuals and/or throw up, they will continue to increase his feeds.  His oxygen levels have been fabulous & they just stopped the caffeine they were giving him (something they give to preemies to help with breathing).  Today they are doing labs to check his jaundice levels & his nutritional status.  Praying that everything looks great!

Can I just tell you what awesome parents Rachael & Brian are??!!  It is still hard to believe that my little sister is a MOM, but after seeing her this weekend, being a mommy is definitely her calling.  She is such a loving, comforting & sweet mother to Greyson.  What a natural!  And so is Brian!  For someone who never held a baby prior to having Greyson, he looks like a pro!  Their faces light up whenever they talk about their little guy & they are so happy when they are with him.  My heart melts when I see the 3 of them together.  And I am so very thankful that my sister & Greyson are here today, healthy, after everything that they have gone through.

R & Brian---thank you so much for having me come visit this weekend!  I know that things are crazy for you guys right now, and I appreciate you allowing me to invade your home and love on my nephew.  You two are such wonderful parents & Greyson is so lucky to have you as his mommy & daddy!  I love you both & cannot wait to see you again next weekend!
