Kennedy
Ashby
As both of the girls have gotten older, their lovies continue to be their best friends. They continue to comfort the girls when they are sick, tired, or upset. The lovies are no longer allowed out of the house, but when the girls are lounging around the house or when they are in bed, their lovies are always close by. Their lovies have been their 'stability', even though the world around them is forever changing.
I remember when Kennedy was around 2 1/2. She went through a 2-month period where there were A LOT of changes going on in her life. She got rid of her binky, transitioned to a toddler bed, & potty trained all within a short period of time. I felt terrible because I felt like we were making her 'give up' all of the things that made her feel safe & protected. And I remember one night telling her, 'binkies, diapers & cribs are for babies but lovies are forever'. And I meant it. I will never, ever make her give up her lovey (unless of course she tries to sneak it in her backpack & go to school with it!).
As Ashby quickly approaches 2 1/2, big changes will soon be coming her way too. The binky will be going bye bye, she will be transitioning to a toddler bed & hopefully she will be potty trained soon. But just like I told her big sister, although a lot of her 'security' is being taken away, I will NEVER take away her lovey. She loves this thing more than anything in the world!
Maybe when the girls get older, diamonds will be their best friend. But for right now, lovies are definitely both of these little girls' best friends. And I am perfectly okay with that!
