Throughout my life I've had short hair, long hair, curly hair, straight hair. All kinds of lengths & hairstyles. More recently I've had long hair. Long hair for me has always been past my shoulders. Here is a picture from September, when my hair was at my longest.
After I had Ashby I started wearing it in ponytails a lot. It was just easier to do & it didn't require styling. Who has time to do their hair with a newborn & 21 month old??!! Over time, though, the endless days of wearing ponytails got to me. I wanted something different. Something easy to do but something that had style & made me look older. So after careful thought & consideration, I had 8 inches cut off & got a pixie cut.
I loved it. It was easy to do, I thought it looked cute, and I got many compliments. Marc, however, was not a fan. He didn't exactly say he didn't like my hair. More like, "it's fine." Or "if you like it that is all that matters." Well that didn't sit well with me. Sure I liked it, but my husband didn't. I decided to give it a good month or so & see if the new hairstyle grew on him. But it didn't. When I went back 5 weeks later I told my hairstylist that I wanted to grow it out. I explained to her that although I liked it, it was important that my husband finds me attractive & likes my hair too. Knowing that he didn't like it made me realize that I needed to grow it out. Not all 8 inches, but to a length we were both happy with. Marriage is all about compromises and making sure your spouse is happy, and I guess hairstyles & haircuts fit into that category too. :)
Having had the shortest lived pixie cut, my hair has now grown out about 2 inches or so. I went to my hairstylist today for a highlight & trim. Here I am processing. Oh, the things we do for beauty...
And here I am after my highlights & trim.
Thank you Jennie for making the transition from short to long(er) hair so painless & for always making my color look fabulous. My husband thanks you too! :)

i love the new do, looks great... love, Betty Ann
