Goggle Girl

I grew up in the water.  Swimming was all I ever knew.  From swim lessons, to summer swim team, to high school swim team, I swam from the time I was a young child all the way through high school.  I feel that knowing how to swim is one of the most important things a person can do.  My girls don't need to be Olympic swimmers (but boy, wouldn't that be great??!!) but I want them to feel comfortable in the water & have the ability to get from one side of the pool to the other safely.

Kennedy has been in swim lessons at the YMCA for about 9 months now.  She is slowly getting more & more comfortable in the water.  At the end of the last session, though, she said she didn't want to take swim lessons anymore.  She didn't like putting her face & eyes in the water, and wanted to quite swim lessons right then & there.  Sorry chica, ain't gonna happen!  Marc bribed her with a pair of swim goggles to help her feel more comfortable in the water.  Oh my goodness, they are like a miracle!

Now, she puts her face in the water & blows bubbles while kicking across the pool with her kickboard...

She willingly does 'bobs' in the water while waiting for her turn on the side of the pool...

She loves to jump all by herself off the edge of the pool to the instructor...

And she gives me a big ole' smile instead of a whine & cry after each turn with the instructor!

I'd say these goggles have been a huge SUCCESS!  Dare I say we have a future swimmer on our hands??!!  Mommy sure hopes so!
