Thank you all so much for your thoughts & prayers for our baby girl's health. It means so much to us knowing that everyone is praying for her. Your thoughts & prayers are definitely heard...and working!
Unfortunately, Kennedy did not wake up feeling much better yesterday. While her temperature had improved, 101.5-102 versus 103-105, her spirits and the way she felt had not. She not only still had a temperature, but now she had a nasty cold & congestion too. Lovely.
You can tell from the above picture that she was NOT happy. Who could blame her?! This was day FOUR of being sick. I communicated with her pediatrician & he, once again, checked the urine & blood cultures, and there was absolutely no growth, indicating that it was a viral infection. And with a viral infection, antibiotics are useless. All you can do is wait it out. Ugh.
She spent most of the day cuddling with me, though I will say she had moments where she perked up & colored/played with Ashby. That was definitely an improvement from the previous days, but it was obvious she was *still* sick.
Our pediatrician agreed that if her temperature continued into today, then we were to come back in to see him & get reevaluated. 5 days of a high temperature & feeling awful is just way too long!
Well, wouldn't you know it, our baby girl woke up this morning feeling MUCH better! Woohoo! Her temperature was only 99.4 & that was 8 hours post Motrin. She still was very congested (and woke up three times last night crying that she couldn't sleep/breathe) but it was clear she was turning a corner. Hallelujah!
While she was still clingy & a bit whiny today, I am happy to report that her temperature stayed in the 99-100 range for the entire day without medication. And throughout the day there were signs of our 'old' Kennedy coming back. Making jokes, laughing, bickering with Ashby, etc.
We did not end up going to see her pediatrician. He agreed to just watch her throughout the day & if she seemed to be improving (which she did), then I could just monitor from home.
I am praying that she has turned a corner & is on the road to recovery! This has been one nasty virus & I am so glad to see our baby girl kicking it to the curb. I pray that she has good night sleep tonight, that her temperature is back to normal tomorrow, and that she is feeling even better when she wakes up in the morning! Oh, and that the rest of us do not get it. Please God, no!
