Guppy Love

Ashby Grace has a *slight* crush on her swim lesson teacher, Teacher Wyatt, and often brings him pictures that she has colored for him.

He is the sweetest 18-year old ever.  I would have never guessed he was a Senior in high school.  He acts much older than his age & is so good with the kids.  Both girls have him (Ashby is in level 1 & Kennedy is in level 2), and both love him.  Though Ashby may love him just a bit more, as witnessed by the countless number of pictures she brings for him every week.

And he is so sweet to her when she does, always thanking her and me for the pictures.  Tonight I whispered to him that it was perfectly alright to go ahead & throw it in the trash once we left.  He immediately responded with 'oh no, I would never do that.  I love all of her pictures.  While I don't hang them on the refrigerator, I have them all in a pile on my desk.  I think they are so cute!'  Seriously.  What 18-year old says that?  He is such a nice, young man.

And I credit Wyatt for helping Ashby get so comfortable in the water.  She has progressed by leaps & bounds in the past 6 months.  Remember when she first started?!  Oh my goodness.  Thank goodness we are past that awful stage!

Here she is tonight going all the way under water.  Willingly & all by herself.  I never thought this day would come!

She still doesn't willingly put her face in the water & blow bubbles while kicking with Wyatt though.  And that is what he is really trying to work on with her.  Wyatt says that she just has to gain the confidence because once she masters that, the rest will fall into place & she will be able to move on to level 2.

We are getting there.  Little by little.  She has come a long way & we are so proud of all of her progress!

And who knows, maybe her baby step progress is intentional because she wants to stay in class with Teacher Wyatt.  I definitely wouldn't put it past her! :)
