Yesterday I wrote about my cousin creating a Random Acts of Kindness Day in memory of her precious baby girl, Emily Grace, who passed away 7years ago at just 2 1/2 years old.
Oh my gosh! What an amazing day! There were over 8,000 posts that day about people who were performing RAK's in memory of Emily Grace. People who didn't even know Wen, her family, or this precious little girl, were giving the homeless food, paying for the customer behind them at Starbucks, & donating clothes to those in need. It was a life changing day that I will never forget!
Yesterday I was really able to talk to my girls about the importance of doing nice things for people. People they may not even know. Just like the 800+ people who participated in the RAK Day yesterday, me & my family also participated in this wonderful event. And boy, did it feel GOOD!
While checking out at the grocery store yesterday, I noticed a young mom behind me in line with a cart full of groceries. She had two young children, who appeared to be very tired & cranky, and you could tell this mama was spent. So while checking out, I asked the cashier to put $50 on a Walmart gift card & to use it with this young mom while she was checking out. I hope that this little RAK put a smile on her face & brightened her day just a bit.
After picking Kennedy up from school, we talked about doing something nice for somebody we may not know. She wanted to buy flowers & go give them to a neighbor we don't know. She insisted she go by herself up to the door & when the woman answered she said, 'Here, these are for you! I hope they make you happy!' ♥
And then after dinner, I took Ashby out & she 'Booe'd' two of our neighbors. She doesn't quite get the concept of doing a RAK but she does know that the two pumpkins full of goodies will make a bunch of children really happy & put a smile on their little faces.
What a great day! I am so glad that my cousin & her family encouraged all of us to share our giving spirit with those around us! It was a day me & my family will never forget. ♥
And the icing on the cake?! My cousin & her family were contacted by their local news station this morning about yesterday's RAK Day. The news station came to their house so that they could share their story with everyone, the amazing day in honor of their daughter & how it has changed their feelings about October 15th, the anniversary of their daughter's passing. Their story was amazing & gave me goosebumps! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
