So, I have to share this story because stuff like this happens all of the time between hubby & me! I will be the first to admit that he is smarter than me. I do believe that I am smart, but in my opinion he is SUPER smart (Don't let this go to your head, babe!). He knows the answers on Jeopardy, can rattle off history facts, is very good at geography, and from this next story, has a much better vocabulary than me!
Last night after a little disagreement, hubby comes up to me while I'm cooking dinner.
Hubby: I'm sorry, I really wasn't trying to be contentious.
Me: OK, thank you for apologizing. *kiss*
I continue to cook dinner, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking 'what does that word even mean?!'
So I turn to hubby and say...
Thanks for apologizing but I have no idea what contentious even means!
Ha! This happens all of the time! He goes & uses all of these big words and then I have no idea what he is even trying to say! Which of course makes me feel a little embarrassed and makes me want to run to the nearest dictionary to look up the word.
Which by the way, the word contentious means
tending to argument or strife; quarrelsome
causing, involving, or characterized by argument or controversy
Well, that makes perfect sense now. He wasn't trying to start an argument with me.
Learn something new everyday!
And now I can add a new word to my ever expanding vocabulary! :)
And this has nothing to do with the story, but here is a cute picture I got of the girls while we were at Home Depot yesterday. They LOVE the race car carts there. I think they are a germ factory but that isn't news to a lot of people. I think a lot of things are germ factories. Nothing a little clorox wipe can't fix. A little wipe down & we were all happy Home Depot shoppers!

Ha ha, hilarious!!
