Proud Mommy Moments

I am amazed at how much Kennedy has grown this past year.  Sure she has gotten taller, but I am not talking about that kind of growth.  I am talking about her growth in learning & in school.  I remember there was a time last year that I emailed Teacher Kim worried that she had no interest in writing her name.  Of course my mind went crazy, thinking she wasn't going to be able to write come Kindergarten, which was well over a year away!  And sure enough, in {Kennedy's own} time, she began to write her name.

And then all of a sudden, she began recognizing words.  In a book or on the TV, she started reading words to Marc & me.  Amazing!

Shortly after that she began to learn how to spell.  C-A-T and B-A-L-L and S-T-O-P, along with M-I-L-K, D-O-G, and B-O-O-K.   Marc & I joke that we can no longer spell out certain things we don't want her to realize we are saying, because smarty pants recognizes what we are spelling & it defeats the whole purpose of trying to sneaky around her.

Just this past weekend she started to be able to tell time on the 'big people' clock.  You know, the clocks that have the little hand & big hand.  She still gets certain times confused but how the heck did she learn how to do this?!  She is only 4 1/2!

But what Marc & I are most amazed at is her ability to read.  We've always been avid readers with the girls.  There is nothing better than sitting together on the couch or in Kennedy's bed at night, reading the girls a few books.  The girls love reading/being read to & we hope that their passion for books and reading continues for many years to come.

A couple of months ago Kennedy started to read If You Give A Moose A Muffin out loud.  I was amazed as I listened to her read.  How in the world does she know how to read a book?  My little girl is only in preschool!

And tonight as I listened to her read Fancy Nancy's Hair Dos & Don'ts, I felt this overwhelming sense of pride.  My little girl, growing up right before my eyes.  She is such an amazing little girl & I am such a  proud mama as I watch her learn new skills each & every day.

I decided to video her reading to me tonight to share with family & friends, as well as to record this monumental time in her life.  My little 4 1/2 year old reading her mama a book.

My heart is full tonight.

Baby girl, mama loves you so much & am so proud of you!
