Since we were in Las Vegas for Christmas, we needed to make sure that Santa came to Grandpa & Grandma's house AND our house this year. Luckily, the girls are still young enough & don't really comprehend the logistics of all that comes with Santa bringing gifts to two houses, leaving milk & cookies out a week in advance (um, can we say sour milk?!), etc. so thankfully everything went off without a hitch.
Before we left for Las Vegas, we put out cookies, carrots & milk for Santa and his reindeer's to have when they delivered presents.
I Santa just wishes their initial reaction would have been a bit different.

And Daddy Santa spent two nights putting together their big Christmas present. The morning that we left, we put their presents in the family room & covered them with a sheet.
When we returned home on Wednesday, but before we got the girls out of the car, Marc & I ran inside to do the big reveal. I rearranged the plate of food & milk (I realized after that I had put the milk in a different glass...oops) while Marc uncovered their presents & got everything ready.
And then we got the girls out of the car to show them what Santa had brought them.
A new train set! The train set that Kennedy has been asking for since December 26th of last year! The train set that she has asked Santa for 3 times this year & multiple times to family members, friends, and anyone else that asked what she wanted for Christmas. You would think that she would have been ecstatic, right?!
Not so much. She seemed happy but not as thrilled as we thought she would be. Instead she asked where the rest of the presents from Santa were. Sigh.
And what did we get for Ashby (besides the train set that was meant to be shared by them)?
The 'dancing & singing Chipmunk' that she has been asking for, for the past couple of months! Was she super excited to see Simon?!
Kind of. She, like Kennedy, seemed happy to see her present however she was sad that Santa hadn't given her Alvin & Theodore too. Double sigh.
It was all kind of anti-climatic if you ask me. We Santa was so excited to give them these gifts that they really, really wanted. So we Santa was a bit disappointed with their initial reaction.
But you know what they were thrilled to get?!
Yep, these three ornaments that were hanging from the tree.
Go figure.
I will say, though, that they have played continuously with the train set & Simon since we've been home. So deep down, I know that they really do love their gifts.
Maybe next year. :)

oh my they are the sweetest!! i love that first picture
