Mama Means Business

Reason # 132,586 why Ashby is different from her sister:

She does not listen.

Ever.

You tell her to do (or not do) something & she does the complete opposite.

The girl definitely keeps us on our toes!

Recently, her napping has been sparse.

I don't think it is because she is not tired.

More so because she realizes she can get out of bed & her room.

She'd rather run around upstairs, play with her sister, call for me 10,000 times.

Pretty much, she'd rather do anything BUT sleep.

Honestly, I don't mind if she doesn't sleep.

If she isn't tired, then I can't force her to sleep.

But I can enforce rest time.

And rest time involves staying in your room from 1-3 pm every day.

Kennedy does just fine with it, so why can't my second born?!

I've tried taking her beloved lovey & blanket away, a child safety lock, etc.

Nothing keeps that girl in her room.

So mama had to bring out the big guns yesterday!

Yep!

I installed a lock on the outside of the door.

This little girl needs to learn that rest time involves staying in her room.

The entire time!

And I guess the only way she is going to learn this is by being locked in her room.

She seems very excited about her new lock on her door!

Until rest time today.

I'm sure you will hear screaming from miles away!  Ha!

  1. Atta girl! I don't have kids (yet) but I imagine if they are anything like me (or their father) we are going to need some heavy duty parenting skills. Totally a fan of the lock on backwards. It teaches them you mean business. Good luck today!

  2. I would love to be a fly on the wall during nap time today when she goes for the door knob! :)
