Sacred Marriage

When my blogger friend, Jenn, posted about doing a Blogger Study & the book we would be reading & discussing was Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas, I knew I was IN!  Being married, having two children and a husband who travels frequently, I can totally see how a marriage can become disconnected.  I see how the focus can become all about the kids & how the spouse(s) take a 'back seat', especially when the children are at a such a young age.  And I DO NOT want that to happen.  I want to make sure that my marriage to Marc is top priority and I am always looking for ways to make my marriage stronger.

Your marriage is more than a sacred covenant with another person. It is a spiritual discipline designed to help you know God better, trust him more fully, and love him more deeply… Scores of books have been written that offer guidance for building the marriage of your dreams. But what if God’s primary intent for your marriage isn’t to make you happy… but holy? And what if your relationship isn’t as much about you and your spouse as it is about you and God?

I am heading to the book store tomorrow to pick up this book & I am very excited to start reading it!  I pray that this book can not only help strengthen our marriage & bring Marc & me closer together as a couple, but also that it helps strengthen my relationship with God too.

Has anyone read this book?  If you have, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. It's been several years, but our small group studied this book together and it was really wonderful. I was recently told about another book of his, 'Sacred Influence', that I need to pick up and read soon. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
